A darker mood
During the years when I only shot analog film, there never was quite enough light. Film works differently than digital, and most color film (the common color reversal kind) needs to be overexposed by one or several stops for best results. That meant I basically was screwed when the sun dropped below the horizon and the world was thrust into blue hour. The light quality and the colors during that part of the day, just before dark, is wonderful, but I was mostly confined to shooting heavily pushed black and white film. Now that I’ve picked up a few digital cameras again, I just can’t get enough of that last shimmer of the day. Here are a few recent favorites with those moodier tones.
